Today’s topic is “6 sure signs that you are stressed out.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc …

This ought to be an easy one for me since stress and I have been walking hand in hand for months. Okay 6 signs that you should cut and run immediately that I am about to blow that I’m a little stressed out:

1. My fuse (temper) and tolerance for stupidity becomes much shorter! E.G. ~ I begin to notice (more than normal) and become incredibly annoyed by poor grammar (more auditory than written), bad driving, *stupid* opinions, etc. Therefore my tongue begins to hurt because I go through life biting it!

2. I start worrying (again) about becoming a crazy cat lady because my panic attacks start ramping up and it is difficult for me to leave my house. I especially have trouble in traffic so driving to and from work is miserable.

3. When I stand up, after sitting for a while, I can hear the blood pulsing in my head because my blood pressure is so high. Walking down the hall to the ladies room I wonder if I might have a stroke and die before I get there. (I know that’s not really funny. I do take bp meds and it will get better with weight loss. In the meantime it is a sign of stress.)

4. My neck hurts (worse than normal) and I have a non-stop headache!

5. Little things that I can normally ignore begin to really annoy me. Dishes piled up on the counter. Finding another pile of dirty clothes after I “finish” the laundry. Getting in the car and finding the gas gauge on empty.

6. I start answering questions with one word answers or head movements. This is for your protection. If I allow myself freedom of speech we are both liable to regret it!

I start having stress dreams. The typical one is that it’s the end of the semester and I haven’t been to class all term. I’m running around trying to convince the registrar’s office that I really dropped the class so I don’t get an F. The other day, I had a new stress dream. I dreamed that my kids and I were being washed away in a flood.

I used to dream that one of my kids was calling me, needing me, and I could not force myself awake to go help them. I was trapped in this heavy mist that help me immobile and it was just miserable. Haven’t had one of those in a while.

That sounds horrible, Amy! I hope the stress in your life eases up soon!

I felt trapped in my own body, I had to force myself to go out. but I overcame it albiet it took years. I read some very good books with cds.

Positive thinking certainly helps as does praying and surrendering the causes of my stress to God. I’m glad you have found relief from your stresses, Yvonne!

Yep. You’re stressed! :-) Oh dear. I hope you find the time to de-stress. Sometimes just closing your eyes for five minutes and shutting the world out helps.

And a nice cup of tea. I always say having a nice slow cup of tea helps. :-)

    take care

Oh … today’s not so bad, Miss Jenn! That was just the topic for today’s blog entry. A cup of tea is a blessing under some circumstances but not so tempting on an Oklahoma summer day. We take most of our tea iced. :)

I’m like you. The first sign of stress is I get snappy with my kids. They are rarely the cause of the stress, but they are the ones who get the short end of the stick.
